For Range Hood System Inspection NYC Restaurant Owners Trust Master Fire
Now that NYC Restaurants are expected to be open at full capacity beginning this May 19th, it’s a great idea to a range hood system inspection.
Master Fire has been a leader in commercial cooking fire safety prevention for decades. Property managers for and owners of New York City restaurants, venues, night clubs, theaters have come to trust the professionals at Master Fire – particularly when it comes to safety and compliance in their commercial kitchens.
We perform no less than 37 tests and or evaluations of your range hood system. We check to see if all appliances (as well as the duct and plenum) are properly covered with the correct nozzles. We’ll check the positioning of all nozzles and make sure that your range hood system is installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s UL listing. We’ll make sure that your hood/duct penetrations are properly sealed with weld or other UL device; make sure the seals are intact and that there is no evidence of tampering.
We’ll note and report whether or not the system has been discharged, as well as check to see if the pressure gauge is in the proper range (if applicable). We’ll note the most recent hydrostatic test date as well as the 6 year maintenance date.
Some other items we’ll cover include inspecting the cylinder and mount; operate the system from the terminal link as well test for proper operation from remote. We’ll check the operability of the micro switch, gas valve, and clean nozzles. We’ll ensure that the proper nozzle covers are in place and check to see that the fuse links are clean.
Remember, there is no room for error when cooking with high heat. If fuse links need to be replaced we’d rather err on the side of caution. Items that may seem small such as checking the travel of cable nuts/S-hooks are not to be glanced over.
All piping as well as the conduit needs to be securely bracketed. Proper separation needs to exist between fryers and flame. The same exists with respect to there being proper clearance between flame and filters.
With respect to commercial kitchen exhaust ventilation, we’ll insure that your exhaust fan is in proper working order and that all filters are replaced. We’ll make sure that the fuel shut-off is in the on position, and that the manual and remote set/seals are in place. We’ll replace systems covers as needed and make sure your range hood system is operational and the seals in place. This includes the slave system being operational. We’ll also clean the cylinder and mount, check to see that the fan warning sign on the hood is working.
Last but certainly not least, Master Fire will check to see that the appropriate personnel is instructed in the manual operation of the system. This includes making sure that hand portable fire extinguishers are present and up to date (meaning properly serviced). When they are they’ll be properly tagged with service and certification tags on the system. Don’t forget to visit our YouTube Channel at http://youtube.com/fireprotectionnyc
